It's a BIG Miracle!

First, I want to say - yes its a long blog - but read it ALL!

February 4 - Doctors appt in which resulted in testing of my HcG levels because we could not see the baby in the sac (see below blog), meaning I was going to have a miscarriage. I decided to allow my body to process this naturally. If anyone really knows me, they know I have never been hospitalized or even had an IV before, so surgery - being knocked out - yeah - I was willing to wait.February 25 - Doctors appt for another scan to make measure the progress of the miscarriage. The doctor measured the sac which was 52cm. He noted this was larger than the original scan, but still no baby which would still lead us to believe that I did indeed have a blighted ovum. My mind was set to avoid a DNC as long as my health was still good. We made our appt for another three weeks.

March 24 - 2nd follow-up Doctors appt. It has been six weeks since my original scan and I was getting a little annoyed that my body would not process this miscarriage. Just before the doctor walks into the room, he tells his nurse, "I feel so bad for this couple. They want to have a baby, but her body just won't process this miscarriage". So he comes in the room and asks if I had any symptoms, and my answer is NOPE! He scans me and says "WELL, THERE'S YOUR BABY!!!!!" It was right there! My baby was in the sac! The doctor said in the 25 years he has been delivering babies... this has never happened! ITS A MIRACLE! He measured the baby and its the perfect size for 13-weeks. We saw the baby's head, body, spine, rib cage, and its HEART BEAT!

Talk about a silenced and stunned room. We really didn't know what to think. Tom and I did not believe him until we saw the baby's heartbeat. For the past 6 weeks, I didn't realize I was still pregnant! Even the last scan (3-weeks ago) did not show anything! Tom and I are still in shock, but after a good-night sleep, I am actually able to smile about it today.

The doctor is referring us to a specialist at TMH for him to scan me and make sure everything is ok, but he said if he had not ever seen us before - he would think all was well and I am 13-weeks pregnant with a due date September 24! Being 13-weeks means, I am in my last week of my first trimester! Over this time, I have felt fine accept being constantly tired. So, overall - first trimester was a piece of carrot cake!! (my fav. cake)

I am thanking God for his blessings and wisdom. I didn't realize it at the time, but now I do - the calming, peace, and wisdom to allow my body to naturally take care of this - without that - we would not have this "miracle baby"!

8 wk - miscarriage announcement

I just wanted to update you on the "baby situation". Its been a pretty crazy week. We went for our 8wk doc appt on Monday. The ultrasound could not find the baby. The doctor told us either I ovulated late and was only 5 1/2 wks along (which at that point cant see the baby yet) or I had a miscarriage. He was pretty upbeat and said he was leaning toward the error in how far along in the pregnancy. So, he gave us the choice of either waiting two weeks to see what the ultrasound would say or I can get some bloodwork done throughout the week. Well, I have AWESOME insurance for a reason, of course I chose to get bloodwork done instead. Monday night was a pretty scary night. I slept about 45 minutes all night and still managed get work all the next day. I have pretty much been a zombi mentally, trying to stay positive, but prepared for the worse. So, Tuesday and Thursday morning I got poked with a needle. Might I add, I HATE needles, and WOW did it hurt! This afternoon late, while I was at work, Tom called in to the doctor to get the results. The results show that I had an blighted ovum. Yeah - I know - I had no clue either. Basically, we conceived but at some point it stopped developing. I have NO signs of a miscarriage, which added to our shock this week.

I am placing this situation in God's hands. There is a reason (although I do not know it) why this one was not meant to be. I am doing okay emotionally, mostly because I have had 4 days to prepare for the results. I thank everyone for all their excitment they shared with us over the idea of having a baby. The love and support through the fun times and the bad times really shows how much our friends mean to us.

6 wks - Weekend Wrap-up

ONE WEEK tomorrow... until our 8 week doc appt! Monday, Feb 4th 3:30pm, you know where we will be! I thought it would never get here, but now that I can say its next week... its easier to countdown!

Saturday morning, I woke up from not a good night sleep and had my first real bat at morning sickness. Finally, about noon time, it subsided. The afternoon was spend on the couch. Boy and I glad we got brand new comfortable couchs a few years ago. THEN - mom and dad made their "after-cruise" debut in Tally. We went to dinner to celebrate their arrival back in the country AND Tom's birthday (he's so old now - 31!). After mom and dad left, we went to my bosses birthday party at The Winery. I have to say, the Winery is not as fun when you can't drink! Although we had a blast. We stayed out until midnight and I started to crash.

Today - was fun! I slept in after a GREAT night sleep. TMH held a Baby Fair at UCC (where we get married). All kinds of exhibitors. By the way, Richards Photography says Hello! We got all kinds of goody bags and literature to read. It was great! It was also funny to walk in and see the Porpoise Bounce in the 3rd floor ballroom! You never know where one will end up! hehe! So, after Baby Fair, of course baby needed food and we had some arrands to do. By the time 5pm came around, I was going downhill fast... tired. We got in the house and i tore my clothes off and crawled in bed. I am just now getting vertical again. It wiped me out. I definately had to pee at every location. I'm getting pretty good at spotting those "restroom" signs!

My biggest thing is going to be staying home and resting. Its so hard to just sit on the couch all weekend, but apparently its whats gonna be required.

6 Weeks Today!

This week, we spread the word to our family that there is 10 little fingers and 10 little toes in the making... literally, this week! Babycenter.com is really great! It explains each week whats developing and the size of the baby. This week, the baby has grown from a sesame seed to a lentil bean (aka 1/4 of an inch big!). My baby has grown from a seed to a mini bean!

I've been extremely tired all the time and today had my first "morning sickness". I was at work and our office was having a luncheon. The smell of the food was great when they first delivered it. About 5 minutes later, it didn't smell so good to my tummy anymore... took a long lunch break away from that! My finger nails are growing which I LOVE! I've never successfully had long nails!

I am continuing to countdown the days until our doctor appt... 11 more days! It seems like forever!

We are also celebrating Tom's birthday being on Saturday! What a great gift - you're gonna be a daddy!
